Luke 6:37-42

We love to compare
We do it constantly
We compare
Our looks
Our status
Our wealth or lack
… our lives

We want to measure ourselves
Better or worse

But you tell us no

We are not better
Than the child abuser
We are not worse
Than Mother Teresa
We are not the same
But we are equal

We are on a journey
To salvation
All of us

You desire to save us all
From the hell of hatred
From the hell of bigotry
From the hell of hopelessness
From the hell of fear

These continue into
Our future
As long as we cling to them

We do not judge
We show compassion
To others
To ourselves

Compassion should extend
To all of us
Not just others
Not just ourselves
To EVERYONE

A hard task

If we are blind to this
We cannot move forward
In our journey
And we cannot encourage
Others to join us

We condemn the outward
Failings of others
While ignoring the inward
Failings of ourselves

You call this a speck
And a plank
You judge the inward sin
As our first task

This is our daily challenge
