You teach us
To go to the wilderness
For guidance.
Not with a list of requests
But of quiet listening
You choose us
As you chose the twelve
… to be ambassadors
to represent you in the world
As with your twelve
We are ordinary people
You did not choose us
For our oratory
Or education
Or status
You chose us
To be molded in your image
To live the life
You modeled for us.
You chose diversity
A betrayer
A contemplative
A doubter
Two men that by all means
Should have hated each other
You chose brothers
When we follow you
We all become brothers
We live in community
We live in service to you
And to others
