Luke 6: 17-23

You teach us
On level ground
Where we are all equal

We have come for healing
Your touch is powerful
And takes away our demons

We stay to listen
And are astounded

You tell us that the homeless
Will find happiness
Those that are hungry
Will have plenty
All of us who mourn
With loss and grief
… will laugh

And then you talk of what we know
… insults, threats, isolation

These are what we will face
In the kingdom of heaven

And we are to rejoice

What were the newly chosen twelve
Thinking?

What do we think?
There are lessons
That are hard to hear

But your lessons
Always end with hope
With a justice yet to come

Even as we wonder
At your words
Let us follow

Luke 6: 17-23
